Intake manifold — removal and installation
Warning: Wait until the engine is completely cool before beginning this procedure.
Removal
1. If you’re working on a 2015 or later CR-Vmodel, relieve the fuel system pressure (see Fuel and exhaust systems).
2. Disconnect the cable from the negativebattery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
3. Remove the engine cover bolts and pullthe cover off of the ball studs, then disconnect the breather hose from the valve cover and the intake manifold.
4. Remove the intake duct and the air filterhousing (see Fuel and exhaust systems).
5. Unbolt the throttle body from the intakemanifold and position it aside (see Fuel and exhaust systems).
Note: Do not disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body.
Civic and 2014 and earlier CR-V models
6. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from theintake manifold. Mark each hose with tape to insure correct reassembly.
7. Disconnect the IAC valve, the TPS, theknock sensor and any other electrical connectors that may interfere with manifold removal.
8. Disconnect the purge solenoid vacuum hose and the EVAP purge solenoid (see Emissions and engine control systems).
9. Raise the front of the vehicle and sup-port it securely on jack stands, then remove the under-vehicle splash shield (see illustrations Oil pan — removal and installation).
10. Remove the intake manifold bracket from below the intake manifold.
11. Remove the intake manifold mounting bolts/nuts and pull the manifold back to disconnect the PCV hose from the retainer and manifold.
12. Lift the intake manifold from the engine compartment.
2015 and later CR-V models
13. Disconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail (see Fuel and exhaust systems).
14. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and PCV hose from the intake manifold (see Tune-up and routine maintenance). Release the fuel line clips and remove the fuel line.
15. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands, then remove the under-vehicle splash shield (see illustrations Oil pan — removal and installation).
16. Remove the intake manifold support bracket bolt/nuts and remove the bracket from under the manifold.
17. Remove the intake manifold mounting bolts and nuts.
18. Lift the intake manifold from the engine compartment.
Installation
19. Clean away all traces of old gasket material. Remove oil and dirt.
20. Install a new gasket.
21. Install the manifold and mounting fasteners. Tighten the fasteners to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications, starting with the center bolts and working toward the ends.
22. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal steps.
23. Reconnect the battery (see Engine electrical systems).
24. Run the engine and check for oil, coolant and vacuum leaks.
