5. On 2015 and later CR-V models, disconnect the wiring to the alternator, then release the harness retainers and move the harness out of the way.
6. On CR-V models, remove the dipstick,disconnect the valve cover breather hose and PCV hose.
7. On 2015 and later CR-V models, removethe high-pressure fuel pump cover.
8. Remove the valve cover nuts or bolts(see illustrations 4.11). Lift the valve cover off. Tap gently with a soft-face hammer if necessary to break the gasket seal.
Installation
9. Clean the gasket surfaces on the intakemanifold, cylinder head and valve cover. Use a shop rag and brake system cleaner to wipe off all residue and gasket material from the sealing surfaces.
10. Insert a new valve cover gasket into the grooved recess in the valve cover. Make sure the gasket is positioned properly inside the valve cover groove.
11. Install new seals on the spark plug tubes.
12. Apply a slight amount of RTV sealant to
the timing chain cover grooves and the high-pressure fuel pump base (if equipped), mating areas.
13. Tighten the valve cover nuts/bolts in the correct sequence to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications (see illustrations).
