Warning: The air conditioning system is under high pressure. Do not loosen any hose fittings or remove any components until after the system has been discharged. Air conditioning refrigerant must be properly discharged into an EPA-approved recovery/recycling unit at a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning repair facility. Always wear eye protection when disconnecting air conditioning system fittings.
Note: The A/C pressure sensor is mounted in the refrigerant line going from the condenser to the evaporator.
Note: The air conditioning pressure sensor detects low (28 psi) and high (455 psi) refrigerant line pressure and shuts the system off if the pressure drops below or exceeds these values.
1. Have the refrigerant discharged andrecovered by an air conditioning technician.
2. Set the parking brake, block the rear wheels and raise the front of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jack stands, then remove theunder-vehicle splash shield (see Oil pan — removal and installation illustrations .3a and .3b).
3. Locate the sensor on the right side of thevehicle and unplug the electrical connector from the air conditioning pressure switch (see illustration).

4. Unscrew the pressure sensor from theline, be sure to hold the stationary fitting on the line with an open-end wrench to prevent damaging the line.
5. Lubricate the sensor 0-ring with cleanrefrigerant oil of the correct type.
6. Screw the new sensor onto the refrigerant line, then tighten it securely.
7. Reconnect the electrical connector.
8. Have the system evacuated, chargedand leak tested by an air conditioning technician.
