Liftgate handle, latch and lock cylinder (hatchback models) — removal and installation
1. Open the liftgate.
2. On the inside of the liftgate, remove the liftgate lower trim cover.
Handle
3. Remove the fasteners securing the hatch lock cylinder and rear license trim panel.
4. Remove the clips securing the license trim panel, then remove the trim panel.
5. Remove the rear window wiper motor (see Chassis electrical system).
6. Detach the liftgate release cable from the liftgate handle.
7. Remove the liftgate handle retaining nuts and remove the handle.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Latch
9. Disconnect the liftgate release cable and lock cylinder rod from the latch.
10. Disconnect the liftgate latch electrical connectors.
11. Remove the bolts securing the liftgate latch and remove the latch.
12. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Lock cylinder
13. Remove the rear license trim panel.
14. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the cylinder.
15. Working outside of the liftgate, remove the bolt securing the lock cylinder.
16. Working inside the liftgate, remove the lock cylinder from inside of the liftgate.
17. Installation is the reverse of removal.
