Sun roof — removal and installation

Note: The sun roof utilizes a motor and CPU assembly that drives the cables to operate the sun roof. To diagnose the sun roof requires a factory equivalent scanner.

Removal

1. Remove the headliner (see Body).

2. Remove the sun roof trim.

3. Pull off the front and rear drain tubes.

4. Disconnect the electrical connection to the motor and CPU.

5. Loosen the fasteners to the sun roof assembly.

6. With the aid of an assistant on each side of the sun roof, remove the fasteners and lower the sun roof.

7. Carefully guide the sun roof out of the vehicle.

Installation

8. Following the same path you used to remove the sun roof, reattach the fasteners but not entirely tightened down.

9. Reattach the electrical connectors and drain tubes.

10. With the headliner still out, check the operation of the sun roof.

11. With the sun roof in its fully closed position, check for proper alignment between the seal and the roof lines. Once you’re satisfied with the alignment, tighten the fasteners. Note: The glass can be removed separately and adjusted separately from the sun roof track. The four bolts that secure the glass to the track are elongated for the purpose of making small adjustments to the final fit.

12. Reinstall the sun roof trim and the headliner.
