Door window regulator — removal and installation

Caution: Wear gloves when working inside the door openings to protect against cuts from sharp metal edges.

1. Remove the door trim panel and the plastic watershield (see Door trim panels — removal and installation).

2. Remove the window glass assembly or support the glass in the closed position with good adhesive tape in three places (see Door window glass — removal and installation).

3. On power operated windows, disconnect the electrical connector from the window regulator motor.

4. Remove the regulator mounting bolts (see illustration), then slide the regulator assembly out of the service hole in the door frame to remove it.

5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Lubricate the track guides where the roller wheels glide back and forth.

Note: Applying a small amount of liquid dish soap to the felt tracks periodically will not only keep the track free from dirt build up but can also make the window motor last longer due to less drag from the window sliding up and down on a dirty track.
