Tailgate latch, lock cylinder and handle (CR-V models) — removal and installation
Caution: Wear gloves when working inside the door openings to protect against cuts from sharp metal edges.
1. Open the tailgate and remove the tail- gate trim panel (see Door trim panels — removal and installation).
Latch
2. Reaching through the access hole, detach the tailgate rod and cylinder rod, then disconnect the actuator connector from the latch.
3. On 2006 and later models, remove the actuator connector and latch switch connector.
4. Remove the latch mounting screws and remove the latch from the tailgate.
5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Lock cylinder
6. Reaching through the access hole, detach the actuating rod from the rear of the lock cylinder.
7. Remove the lock cylinder retaining clip and pull it outward to remove it from the tailgate handle.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Handle
9. Reaching through the access hole, remove the lock cylinder (see Steps 6 and 7).
10. Remove the bolt securing the lock cylinder protector and handle to the tailgate. Release the clip and remove the protector.
11. Remove the bolt securing the handle and spacer handle to the tailgate.
12. Carefully remove the handle from the tailgate.
13. Installation is the reverse of removal.
