Heater/air conditioning control assembly — removal and installation

Warning: The models covered by this manualare equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working inthe vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

Civic

2. Remove the radio assembly and disconnect the electrical connectors (see Chassis electrical system).

2012 models

3. Remove the dashboard hood and centerlower trim panel (see Body).

4. Unclip the control panel unit from theinstrument panel, then disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the unit.

2013 and later models

5. Disconnect the electrical connector fromthe heater/air conditioning control module (see illustration).

6. Remove the heater/air conditioner control assembly retaining screws (see illustration) and removethe module from the radio assembly.

7. Installation is the reverse of removal.

8. Reconnect the battery (see Engine electrical systems).

CR-V

9. Remove the shift lever top panel and thedashboard center trim panels (see Body).
10. Remove the screws and detach the control unit from the instrument panel, then disconnect the electrical connector.

11. Pull the knobs off of the control unit thenremove the unit mounting screws and separate the control unit from the trim panel.

12. Installation is the reverse of removal.

13. Reconnect the battery (see Engine electrical systems).
