Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor — replacement

1. Locate the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor on top of the transaxle, near the transaxle fluid level dipstick (on coupes and sedans) or on the backside of the transaxle (CR-V models).

2. On Civic 1.8L models and 2014 and earlier CR-V models, remove the air filter housing (see Fuel and exhaust systems). On Civic 2.4L models, raise the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands, then remove the splash shield.
