Warning: The fuel delivery system on 2015 and later CR-V models is made up of a low-pressure system and a high-pressure system. This procedure relieves the pressure in both the low and high-pressure systems; however, wait at least two hours after relieving the pressure before disconnecting any fitting in the low- or high-pressure systems.
1. Remove the gas cap to relieve the pressure inside the fuel tank.
2. Locate the PGM-FI main relay No. 2, then remove/unplug it (see the under-dash fuse/relay block illustration at the end of the wiring diagrams in Chapter).
3. Start the engine and allow it to die. The fuel pressure is now relieved, but there is still fuel in the lines, so be sure to have shop rags handy to mop up any spilled fuel when disconnecting fuel lines.
Note: If the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine light) on the instrument cluster comes on while you’re cranking the engine, ignore it. If the light remains on after reconnecting the battery, erase the code as described in Obtaining and clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
4. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (see Engine electrical systems). It’s now safe to work on the fuel system.
5. After enabling the fuel system after repairs, clear any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that may set.
